Fanny Levitan

Collaborative Artists Memorial Scholarship Fund

Fanny Levitan, long standing member of ORMTA - Central Toronto Branch, passed away on October 16, 2001 after courageously battling many health problems. Fanny worked tirelessly in various capacities within the ORMTA for many years, including being Treasurer of Metro Toronto Zone (now named GTA Zone) and a Zone Representative on Provincial Council.

Fanny was one of those exceptional individuals who made her impact felt from Ottawa to Thunder Bay and points in between.

In recognition of her many years of service to the organization, the Central Toronto Branch established a new Scholarship-Bursary in Fanny's name. This award may be presented each year to a qualifying student at the GTA Zone competition, an event which features some of the most talented music students of ORMTA members in the Greater Toronto Area. The Scholarship-Bursary is to be awarded to an outstanding vocalist or instrumentalist (other than piano) who advances to the provincial level of the competition (Level B or Young Artist). The award is to help towards the cost of a collaborative artist. Fanny herself was a skillful accompanist and superb vocal teacher.

The Central Toronto Branch of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association continues to gratefully accept donations to the Fanny Levitan Collaborative Artists Memorial Scholarship Fund. With your help, our friend's legacy will be carried on.

Your donation can be made by Interac e- transfer to ormta.ctbtreasurer@gmail.com
